These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MyGermanFreund mobile application and related services (“Services”).

The Services are operated by Sruthi Kondiparthy, Einzelunternehmerin, doing business as Athirikya (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

By using MyGermanFreund, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Our Services

MyGermanFreund is a mobile application designed to help newcomers, expats, students, and international professionals better understand everyday life in Germany.

The current version of MyGermanFreund includes:

• Letter Scanner — AI-assisted explanations of German letters in simpler language;
• Did You Know — practical tips about everyday life in Germany;
• German Buzz — weekly conversation-preparation topics with simple German explanations, useful vocabulary, and example phrases.

The Services are intended to provide informational and educational support. They are not a replacement for professional advice or for the original documents you receive.

2. Free Product Status

MyGermanFreund is currently provided as a free product.

No subscription, paid plan, in-app purchase, or monetisation is enabled in the current version.

We may introduce paid features, subscriptions, limits, or other commercial options in the future. If we do so, we will provide relevant information before such features apply.

3. No Professional Advice

MyGermanFreund does not provide legal, tax, immigration, medical, financial, administrative, or other professional advice.

The Letter Scanner and other app features are provided for informational support only.

You remain responsible for:

• reading and checking the original document;
• verifying deadlines, payment details, addresses, reference numbers, and required actions;
• deciding what action to take;
• contacting the sender, authority, professional adviser, or relevant institution when needed.

Do not rely only on MyGermanFreund for important decisions.

4. AI-Assisted Outputs

Some features of MyGermanFreund use artificial intelligence to generate explanations, summaries, suggestions, or simplified wording.

AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, mistranslated, or misleading.

We do not guarantee that AI-generated explanations will correctly identify every deadline, payment obligation, legal consequence, appointment, sender, or required action.

You must verify all important information against the original document.

5. Letter Scanner Use

When you use the Letter Scanner, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to scan, upload, process, or analyse the document.

You agree not to use the Letter Scanner for documents that you are not authorised to process.

Letters may contain personal or sensitive information. You should avoid scanning documents that contain information you do not want processed through the Services.

MyGermanFreund is intended to help you understand the general meaning and possible next steps in a letter. It does not replace the original document, official translation, legal review, or professional advice.

6. Calendar and Sharing Features

MyGermanFreund may allow you to add detected future deadlines to a calendar or share generated summaries through your device’s sharing options.

These actions are triggered by you.

When you choose to use an external calendar app, sharing target, messaging app, email app, or other third-party service, that third-party service is responsible for how it handles the information you send to it.

We are not responsible for third-party apps or services selected by you.

7. Did You Know and German Buzz

Did You Know and German Buzz provide general informational and educational content about everyday life, culture, language, and conversations in Germany.

This content may not reflect every local rule, exception, authority process, or personal situation.

You should verify important practical, legal, financial, immigration, healthcare, school, employment, or official information with appropriate sources before acting on it.

8. User Responsibilities

By using MyGermanFreund, you agree that you will:

• use the Services only for lawful purposes;
• provide only documents or information that you are authorised to process;
• not misuse, disrupt, reverse engineer, overload, or interfere with the Services;
• not attempt to bypass usage limits, security controls, or technical restrictions;
• not use the Services to process illegal, harmful, abusive, discriminatory, or unauthorised content;
• not use the Services in a way that violates applicable laws or third-party rights.

9. No User Accounts in the Current Version

The current version of MyGermanFreund does not provide visible user accounts, user profiles, email/password login, or account-management features.

The app may use anonymous technical identifiers to operate app functionality, manage usage limits, or protect the Services.

Because there are no visible user accounts, references to suspending or terminating “accounts” should be understood as limiting, blocking, or disabling access to the Services where technically possible and legally appropriate.

10. Intellectual Property

The Services, including the app design, software, text, graphics, branding, logos, feature names, and other content, are owned by us or licensed to us.

You may use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, reproduce, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, or exploit any part of the Services unless permitted by law or with our written permission.

11. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, ideas, or comments about MyGermanFreund, you agree that we may use them to improve the Services without compensation to you.

You should not send confidential information as feedback.

12. Third-Party Services

MyGermanFreund may rely on third-party services for app distribution, authentication, cloud infrastructure, AI-assisted processing, document scanning, text extraction, calendar actions, sharing actions, and other functionality.

Third-party services may be unavailable, interrupted, changed, or discontinued.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, policies, or practices of third-party services that we do not control.

Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

13. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee that MyGermanFreund will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

The Services may be unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, provider outages, internet problems, changes to third-party services, or other reasons.

We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue parts of the Services at any time.

14. Changes to the Services

We may update, improve, modify, remove, or replace features of MyGermanFreund from time to time.

We may also change usage limits, supported features, supported languages, AI providers, content formats, or technical requirements.

If a change is important, we may provide notice through the app, website, release notes, or other appropriate means.

15. Prohibited Activities

You must not:

• use the Services for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorised purposes;
• process documents that you do not have the right to process;
• upload or process content that violates another person’s rights;
• attempt to access systems, data, or accounts without permission;
• interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Services;
• bypass usage limits or security measures;
• use bots, scraping, automated abuse, or excessive requests;
• copy, reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app except where allowed by law;
• use the Services to develop a competing product by copying our content, structure, or functionality.

16. Disclaimer

The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that:

• the Services will meet your expectations;
• AI-generated results will be correct or complete;
• every deadline, payment detail, consequence, or required action will be detected;
• German explanations or translations will be error-free;
• the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or available at all times.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, missed deadlines, incorrect payments, administrative consequences, or reliance on AI-generated output.

You are responsible for verifying important information against the original document and, where necessary, seeking professional advice.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, or mandatory consumer protection rights under applicable law.

18. Indemnity

Where permitted by applicable law, you agree to compensate us for losses, claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your misuse of the Services, violation of these Terms, violation of applicable law, or processing of documents you were not authorised to process.

This does not limit any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

19. Privacy

Your use of MyGermanFreund is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Please review the Privacy Policy to understand how we process personal information when you use the Services.

20. Termination or Restriction of Access

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Services where reasonably necessary, including if:

• you violate these Terms;
• you misuse the Services;
• continued access creates security, legal, operational, or abuse risks;
• we discontinue the Services or a feature.

Because the current version of MyGermanFreund does not provide visible user accounts, restriction may occur through technical means where available.

21. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you may also have rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

We will try to resolve the matter informally where possible.

Nothing in these Terms limits your right to contact a competent consumer protection authority, data protection authority, or court where applicable law gives you that right.

23. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

If we make material changes, we may notify users by posting a notice through the app, website, release notes, or other appropriate means.

Your continued use of the Services after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
